Our Staff:

John Tribble

In 1981, after serving as the adult ministry director for a large church, I founded Good News Travels. I hold a degree in Parks, Recreation and Tourism from Clemson University. My passion for travel and fun loving, adventuresome spirit have guided the company's mission - to offer customized group tours that allow participants to "Explore - Experience - Enjoy God's Creation".

To assure GNT customers receive a high quality product I travel to preview hotels, attractions and destinations, and conduct the training for the company's tour managers and bus drivers.

I am devoted to my Savior, the loving father of nine, and an avid tennis player.

Tom Bastoni
In 1995, having moved to sunny South Carolina to escape the cold New England weather, I began driving motor coach for Good News Travels. At the end of that year I became the Good New Travels office manager in charge of the motor coach drivers and bus scheduling. In 2001 I began working with the tour sales and planning area of our company. Like most of my coworkers at Good News Travels, I love to travel , and I do so whenever I am given the chance to get away.

I was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts. I graduated from Bob Jones University in Greenville in 1977 with a degree in business and worked for 18 years in Christian education before moving to South Carolina. I now live in Greenville, South Carolina with my wife of 37 years. We have 4 children, and 9 grandchildren

Linda Lawson
After a 20-year career working for J.P. Stevens & Co. in Planning and as a Customer Service Rep. I began working for Good News Travels in 1999 as a Tour Coordinator. In 2000 I began in the Sales Dept. I have a great love for travel passed on to me by my parents who loved nothing better than to take off at a moment's notice to see this wonderful country we live in.

I am a native of Spartanburg County in South Carolina. I now reside in Liberty, SC with my husband Ken. I have three beautiful daughters and 3 grandchildren.

Linda Blackston

In 1988, I started working at Good News Travels as a Tour Coordinator. Since working here I have had many opportunities to see places in America that I would nave never had the chance to visit. The Travel Industry is a large part of our economy and I am very privileged to be a small part of this. It has been a very rewarding experience.

I reside in Easley with my husband, Carl. We have 4 daughters and 3 grandchildren.

Carolyn Kobel
I began my career in the Travel Industry in 1994 after leaving Duke Power where I worked in the Human Resources Department for 20 years. After completing the Travel & Tourism curriculum at Greenville Tech, I did an internship at a Travel Agency in Clemson. After working for agencies in Clemson, Greenville, Easley, and Seneca, I began working at Good News Travels in 1999. Working with Group Leaders and Educators in planning trips for their groups is both challenging and rewarding. What a blessing to be able to help others achieve an unforgettable vacation experience!

I reside in Piedmont, SC with my 17-year-old pet Yorkie, Prince. I am a South Carolina native and have one son, Kevin, who lives in Plantation FL. When I have free time I, too, enjoy traveling and exploring God's creation. Some recent recent travel experiences include Costa Rica, Hawaii, and San Antonio TX. My hobbies include reading, attending concerts and plays, and having fun with my fellow Red Hatters!

Debra Jardin

As the newest member of the GNT Tour Coordination team I am quickly learning that this is an exciting and fast paced industry. The entire GNT staff is dedicated to helping others to fulfill their dreams of having fun and seeing interesting places. It’s a great environment and an incredible learning experience...and I've meet some wonderful people!

My husband, Rich, and I moved to South Carolina from California in 2003 to be closer to our children and grandchildren. We have 4 children and 5 grandchildren…although that last number is still subject to change. So far, we think the South rocks!! Our only regret is that we didn’t get here sooner.

Alicia Rampey
I have known John and the employees of Good News Travels all my life. When I was very young, we would joke about me coming to work for the company when I grew up.

Last year when my Aunt Mary came back to work here, I had just graduated from high school. It has been a great opportunity for me to start working part time at the office doing special projects and administrative support.

I am currently taking a home study course in Bookkeeping and Accounting, and I live in Easley with my aunt and my grandmother.

Mary Littleton

Born with a wandering spirit and a thirst for adventure, it seemed right to apply for a position at Good News Travels. I came here in 1988, first working in sales, and then writing the tour catalog and putting together travel and trade shows for the company. My first 12 years here were filled with excitement, fun, and a suitcase that never got put away.

Personal and family responsibilities took me away for about eight years, but in July of 2007 I was given the opportunity to again be a part of the Good News Travels’ staff. What a joy it is to be back here with an absolutely wonderful group of people.

I live in Easley with my oldest sister and my great niece, Alicia.

Brad Rampey
I first learned of Good News Travels in 1988 . Over the years, I have worked part time for the company and that occasionally gave me the opportunity to travel. I recently came to work in the offices of Good News Travels in the Sales Department. I am excited about a chance to share my love of travel with as many people as possible. My wife Karen will be working with me. We live in Easley S.C. and have two daughters Olivia and Caroline.

Jonathan Tribble

Growing up around the business, I worked part time on and off through high school and am now helping maintain the web site and design brochures.

I live in Greenville, SC with my wife Ashley and our three dogs. Some recent recent travel experiences include the Bahamas, Belize City, Costa Maya, and Tijuana.

Ric Adams

I began working for Good News Travels in 2004 after teaching twenty eight and a half years at D.W. Daniel High School in Pickens County, SC. I traveled with the art classes in the 1980s while using Good News Travels as our tour group. It was fun going places with students and watching them as they saw first hand what this great country has to offer. Today as a Tour Manager I get to see groups experience different locations and see the excitement on the faces of students as well as adults and senior adults who take Good News Travels tours.

I am a native of Spartanburg County in South Carolina. I now split my time with my family there and my home in Seneca, SC.

I look forward to meeting you one day on a Good News Travels’ tour.

Jerry and Bertie Jones
In January 2004 we joined GNT as tour managers after I retired from West Point Stevens after 39 years in 2000. Bertie worked in retail with Sears and others.

We lived in Rock Hill, Greensboro, Spartanburg and Laurinburg before retiring. We now live in Spartanburg County.

We retired to travel and working for GNT has given us the opportunity to meet some great people and help them see the world and God's creation.

We have two children and 3 grandsons.

Linda Brumfield

I was born and raised in Georgia. I am a PK (Preacher's Kid) I think being raised in a pastor's home gave me a love for people. I worked as Vice President for Power Transmission & Bearings, Inc. for 29 years. I have always loved traveling. I went on several trips with Good News Travels with church groups and enjoyed them so much that I decided to give Tour Manager a try for myself. I have been with Good News Travels since 2005. It gives me the opportunity to meet new people and get the thrill of seeing God's beautiful creation for the first time through their eyes. I enjoy watching others, so many of the groups have never traveled and get so excited, that makes my day.

I reside in Cumming, GA. with my husband Jerry. We have two sons and three grandchildren, Abby, Parrish & Megan.

Olin and Shirley Laws

I am a native of Spartanburg, SC and have lived in Greenville, SC since 1956. My husband, Olin, and I have two children and five wonderful grandchildren.

I retired from BellSouth after thirty-three years and Olin retired from Duke Power after thirty-five years.

What we like the most about travelling with GNT is the wonderful customers who touch our life

Connie Merritt

After retiring from the U. S. Postal Service, I wanted to explore the world, meet new friends and have fun. Endless Journeys is taking me around the country and I love sharing my experiences with others.

My husband and I live in Easley, S. C. We have two sons and two wonderful grandchildren - Ansley & Seth. Follow your dreams and me as we admire the best in nature, culture and history that America has to offer.

Look forward to traveling with you.

Jack and Pat Mulligan

In April 2005, Pat and I had the opportunity to become part of the Good News Travels team. Prior to that I was with Flour Daniel for 43 years and Pat was in Child Development.

We both love to travel and meet people, so after retirement when the opportunity came along to join Good News, we found it to be a wonderful way to do the things we love to do.

In the past two years we have been privileged to accompany some wonderful groups as together we experienced some of God's creations.

We have a son, one daughter and two grandchildren.

Betsy Williams

After retiring from thirty two years teaching sixth grade in middle school, I became part of the Good News Travels team in August 2005. I have traveled for years with school groups, our Lutheran youth group and adult friends to many places in our country, England, and Iceland. I enjoy traveling with groups and sharing their excitement as we discover new places in the beautiful USA.

I am a native of SC but now reside in Lincolnton, NC with my husband, Jim. I have a son, daughter and son in law.

I am active as an adult Girl Scout and travel as a chaperone each summer to new places in the US. I I never meet a stranger and look forward to making new friends through Good News Travels.

Cathy Schwartz

I have resided in Greenville, S.C. for the past 25 years and am very involved in the music and senior adult ministries at my church, Taylors First Baptist.

My husband Jay and I recently became "empty nesters" and because I've always loved to travel and organize trips for the senior adults at my church, I joined the Good News Team as a Tour Manager in December 2006.

Our daughter, Sally became Mrs. David Mertens this past February and our son, Greg is a rising Junior at the Citadel.

I look forward to the opportunities to explore this beautiful country through Good News Travels.

Claudia Hembree

One of my favorite things to do as a teacher were the field trips. When I retired in 1997 from Pickens County Schools, I felt very comfortable in joining Good News Travels as a tour manager. The new role gave me an opportunity to perpetrate my love for travel and experience every excursion as a field trip!

I am a native of Oconee County, SC and have lived in Taylors since 1963. My husband, Jim and I have a son, Cliff and one grandson, Jacob. We are members of Taylors First Baptist Church.

I enjoy meeting all of our groups as we travel together and enjoy exploring God's Creation.

Joan Vinson
I have been with Good News Travels since early 1989. Between trips with the great groups who travel with us, I enjoy gardening, reading and spending time with my family and friends... sometimes traveling together.

Glenn Abbott

I am a native South Carolinian. I grew up in Central and currently reside in Seneca where I have just retired from a 38 year teaching career. Travel is my passion. Since 1986, I have organized annual student trips to New York City. I have also coordinated four trips to Spain. I enjoy art, photography, and acting. Add quote here.

Meeting new people, exploring new and familiar places, and dealing with the unexpected keep me psyched about the group travel experience.
